In a massive transfer deal that shook the world of football, French star Karim Benzema signed a 3-year contract with Saudi club Al-Ittihad Jeddah, joining from Spanish club Real Madrid in a deal estimated at 200 million euros annually.
Benzema expressed his great happiness in joining the Saudi league in press statements, confirming: “I am very excited about this new experience in my career, and I look forward to giving my best with Al-Ittihad Jeddah.”
This deal comes after Benzema’s illustrious career with Real Madrid that lasted 14 years, during which he achieved numerous titles and individual and collective achievements.
It’s worth noting that Benzema, aged 35, is the top scorer in La Liga with 354 goals, and won the Ballon d’Or award in 2022.
