Founding Day: Renewal of Saudi Identity and Strengthening National Belonging
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia witnessed widespread celebrations of Founding Day, which falls on February 22 each year, with participation from all government and private sectors and citizens across various regions of the Kingdom.
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, confirmed that celebrating this day comes to deepen pride in the deep roots of this blessed state and the close connection of its citizens to their leaders since the era of Imam Mohammed bin Saud three centuries ago until the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The Crown Prince added in press statements: “We celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Mohammed bin Saud in 1139 AH corresponding to 1727 AD, to affirm the authentic Saudi identity that we have inherited across generations, which is based on moderation, balance, and tolerance.”
From his side, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture, explained that Founding Day represents an opportunity to highlight the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Kingdom, where numerous cultural and heritage events and activities were launched in various regions.
Official statistics indicated that more than 10,000 celebratory events were organized in various cities and regions of the Kingdom on the occasion of Founding Day, in which millions of citizens and residents participated.
The celebrations included artistic, heritage, and cultural performances, in addition to parades, air shows, and various entertainment programs. The capital Riyadh and several major cities witnessed fireworks displays that lit up the Kingdom’s skies in joy on this precious occasion dear to the hearts of Saudis.
In a related context, Saudi experts and historians affirmed that celebrating Founding Day represents an important message to strengthen national belonging and Saudi identity in the hearts of new generations and to consolidate the values and principles upon which the Saudi state was founded since its establishment.
In conclusion, the Kingdom affirms through the celebration of Founding Day the depth of its historical roots and civilizational strength, and its ability to continue the path of development and prosperity under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his trustworthy Crown Prince, in accordance with the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030.
