Saudi citizen Aida Al-Sweilim, 68, relived memories of driving her car nearly half a century ago, following the decision allowing Saudi women to drive.
Al-Sweilim shared a video clip on her official Twitter account, showing her driving her car through the streets of the capital Riyadh, announcing her return to driving after a 47-year ban.
Al-Sweilim expressed her great happiness with this historic step, affirming that she highly appreciates the great support Saudi women receive from the Kingdom’s leadership in various fields.
The video clip received wide interaction on social media, with users praising the decision to allow women to drive, considering it an important step toward further progress and development in the Kingdom.
It is worth noting that the decision allowing Saudi women to drive came into effect in June 2018, after years of demands to lift this ban.
