“Umm Turki” Launches Awareness Campaign on the Importance of Wearing Masks in Tuwaiq Region

Saudi citizen “Umm Turki,” a well-known social activist in the Tuwaiq region, has launched a wide-scale awareness campaign under the hashtag “#UmmTurkiProtectsYouPeopleOfTuwaiq,” aimed at emphasizing the importance of adhering to precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the emerging coronavirus. This initiative comes as part of community efforts to support the “A Country Without Close Contacts” campaign recently launched by the Saudi Ministry of Health.

Umm Turki began her campaign approximately two weeks ago, distributing thousands of free masks to residents of the Tuwaiq region, in addition to spreading awareness messages through social media platforms. In a special statement to “Al-Riyadh Newspaper,” Umm Turki said: “Our primary goal is to protect members of our community from the risk of infection with the virus, and to emphasize that wearing a mask is not only a national duty but also an individual responsibility toward others.”
Official statistics issued by the Saudi Ministry of Health indicate that the Tuwaiq region recorded 127 new coronavirus infections during the past week, representing a 15% increase compared to the previous week. In this context, the Ministry’s official spokesperson, Dr. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aly, emphasized the importance of adhering to precautionary measures, saying: “We need all members of society to unite to limit the spread of the virus, and wearing a mask remains one of the most important means of prevention.”
Umm Turki’s campaign has received wide interaction from Tuwaiq region residents, with many citizens and residents participating in distributing masks and spreading awareness messages. In this regard, one of the region’s residents, Abdullah Al-Utaybi, said: “We appreciate the efforts of Umm Turki and everyone contributing to spreading awareness about the importance of adhering to precautionary measures. This demonstrates the awareness and concern of this country’s sons for everyone’s safety.”
Umm Turki’s campaign comes to highlight the importance of the individual’s role in supporting official efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus. The campaign emphasizes that adhering to wearing masks and other precautionary measures is not only a national duty but also an individual responsibility toward the entire community.
